Kotobask Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how Kotobask ("the App"), a Japanese vocabulary learning application, handles your information. The App is operated by Fimo, an individual developer (the "Operator"). By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

The App does not collect your name, email address, phone number, precise location, or any other directly identifying personal information. The App does not require account registration.

The App collects and stores the following data:

  • Anonymous user ID: When you first launch the App, an anonymous, randomly generated identifier is created via Firebase Authentication. This ID is not linked to your identity.
  • Learning progress: Your quiz answers, response times, mastery levels, and study session records (deck, score, duration).
  • Custom vocabulary: Words you add to My Vocab and words you save.
  • App settings: Preferences such as pinned decks and onboarding choices.
  • Crash and diagnostic data: If the App crashes, technical details about the error and your device (such as the error message, the code location, the device model, and the OS version) are collected so the problem can be found and fixed. This does not include personally identifying information.

3. How Your Data Is Stored

  • Learning data is stored locally on your device as the primary record.
  • A backup copy of your learning progress is synchronized to Google Cloud Firestore (Firebase), associated only with your anonymous user ID. Access is restricted so that only your device can read or write your own data.

4. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following services solely to provide its functionality:

  • Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore): anonymous sign-in and cloud backup of learning progress. See: Firebase Privacy
  • Amazon Web Services (Amazon Polly): speech synthesis for custom vocabulary words. Only the word text to be spoken is sent; no user identifiers are included. See: AWS Privacy
  • Sentry: crash reporting, used only to detect and fix defects. IP addresses are not stored, and personally identifying information is not sent. Data is stored in the European Union. See: Sentry Privacy Policy

The App contains no advertising and does not track you across other apps or websites. Apart from the crash reporting described above, no analytics SDK is used, and we do not sell or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.

5. Data Deletion

You can delete all of your data at any time from within the App: Me tab → Clear all data. This removes your learning progress, session records, saved words, and custom vocabulary from both your device and the cloud backup.

Deleting the App from your device removes all locally stored data. If you also want the cloud backup removed after uninstalling, please use "Clear all data" before uninstalling, or contact the Operator (see Section 8).

6. Children's Privacy

The App is suitable for all ages and collects no personal information from any user, including children.

7. Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated revision date.

Kotobask プライバシーポリシー

1. はじめに

本プライバシーポリシーは、日本語語彙学習アプリ「Kotobask」（以下「本アプリ」）における情報の取り扱いについて説明するものです。本アプリは個人事業主 Fimo（以下「運営者」）が運営しています。本アプリを利用することで、本ポリシーに記載された取り扱いに同意したものとみなされます。

2. 収集する情報

本アプリは、氏名・メールアドレス・電話番号・正確な位置情報など、個人を直接特定できる情報を収集しません。アカウント登録も不要です。

本アプリが収集・保存するデータは以下の通りです。

  • 匿名ユーザーID: 初回起動時に Firebase Authentication により匿名のランダムな識別子が生成されます。このIDは利用者の身元と紐づきません。
  • 学習進捗: クイズの回答・回答時間・定着度・学習セッション記録（デッキ、スコア、所要時間）。
  • カスタム単語: My Vocab に追加した単語および保存した単語。
  • アプリ設定: ピン留めデッキやオンボーディングの選択内容など。
  • クラッシュ・診断データ: アプリがクラッシュした際に、不具合の発見と修正のため、エラー内容・発生箇所・端末機種・OSバージョンなどの技術情報が収集されます。個人を特定できる情報は含まれません。

3. データの保存方法

  • 学習データは主として端末内に保存されます。
  • 学習進捗のバックアップは Google Cloud Firestore（Firebase）に、匿名ユーザーIDにのみ紐づく形で同期されます。アクセスは制限されており、本人の端末以外から読み書きすることはできません。

4. 第三者サービス

本アプリは、機能提供のためにのみ以下のサービスを利用します。

  • Google Firebase（Authentication / Cloud Firestore）： 匿名認証と学習進捗のクラウドバックアップ。参照: Firebaseのプライバシー
  • Amazon Web Services（Amazon Polly）： カスタム単語の音声合成。送信されるのは発話対象の単語テキストのみで、利用者の識別子は含まれません。参照: AWSのプライバシー
  • Sentry： クラッシュレポート。不具合の検知と修正のためにのみ利用します。IPアドレスは保存されず、個人を特定できる情報は送信されません。データはEU域内に保存されます。参照: Sentryのプライバシーポリシー

本アプリに広告は含まれず、他のアプリやWebサイトを横断して利用者を追跡することもありません。上記のクラッシュレポート以外に解析SDKは使用しておらず、マーケティング目的で第三者にデータを販売・共有することもありません。

5. データの削除

アプリ内からいつでも全データを削除できます: Meタブ → Clear all data。これにより、学習進捗・セッション記録・保存単語・カスタム単語が端末とクラウドバックアップの両方から削除されます。

アプリを端末から削除すると、端末内のデータはすべて消去されます。アンインストール後にクラウドバックアップの削除も希望する場合は、アンインストール前に「Clear all data」を実行するか、運営者（第8条）までご連絡ください。

6. 子どものプライバシー

本アプリは全年齢向けであり、子どもを含むいかなる利用者からも個人情報を収集しません。

7. 本ポリシーの変更

本ポリシーは随時更新されることがあります。重要な変更は本ページにて、更新日とともに反映されます。
